New in Zurich

Thank you... I am enjoying Switzerland as much as I can :)

I was jogging yesterday near the river and view was amazing..I hope I'll find some dog to make me company.

Hi there Milos!
Welcome to Switzerland and I hope you are having a good time in integrating yourself in Zurich.
I`m from Basel, so if you would like to see an other part of Switzerland you are very welcome to come and visit us....its a beautiful country, there is so much to see :zora:
Have you got your Information about the law to be able to walk dogs or to help in the shelter?

Cheerio

Wellcom Millow,

ich kann leider nicht english. mit spanish könnte ich noch dienen;-)

viel spass in diesem schönen forum. :zora:

Thanks for warm welcome!

I will definitely visit Basel in the near future, but I do not know exact time... I suppose that it will be in a month or two. Thanks for inviting me, it means to me...and I am going to contact you as soon as possible.

I do not have enough information about dog laws in Zurich, so I will be grateful if you could help me with that. I do not want to be professional dog walker and make money from that, I just want to walk (or better run) with some dogs and spend time with them.

Switzerland is really great country and I love it more and more every day. You people were blessed to live here. I can hardly wait to explore rest of the country.

Cheers,
Milos

I have one question... I saw American Staffordshire Terrier, Dogo Argentino and Dobermann breeds here, and I think that those breeds were forbidden here, so are they or are they not?

I do not like idea with forbidden breeds, because every breed is beautiful and friendly if it has a right owner. I think that Europe should solve its problems with dog bites through education of owners, not through forbidden breeds.

[/QUOTE]I also do not like it. In Switzerland it's different from Canton to Canton. In Bern, for example, all breeds are allowed. In Zurich, some breeds have to wear a muzzle and be kept on the leash (some dogs don't have to, but they have to pass a special exam to test their character). And it's not allowed to move to Zurich with the forbitten breeds. We don't have uniform laws concerning dogbreeds. You can find a complet list of this special laws here: SOKA Gesetze ab 1.1.2010 im Überblick

Edit: Sorry, my english ist not that good, but I hope you understand. I try :)

It's as Niina says, but - the reason wy you see those "forbidden breeds" in Canton Zèrich is: The law that does "forbid" them is quite new and people who had such dogs before were of course allowed to keep them - it's just no more allowed to get them.

Hi people!

I just want to inform you that I've been to the animal shelter mentioned a few pages before and I've received bad news. They walk dogs just 3 times per week and they have more people willing to walk dogs than the actual number of dogs.

So for now, I am without 4 legged buddy.

Cheers

Hi Milos,

welcome at Hundi.ch!

I hope you'll feel home in Zurich soon and have a good time at ETH.

Milos, if you looking for a part time buddy, you can walk and maybe (maybe!!) practice with my Amstaff, write me a PN with your tel number and I will get in contact with you.

But on quick note... no show off's... I know you are one of the nice guys, but just to make it clear... no show off's...

Hello everyone again!

I am planning to buy working-line German Shepherd puppy in Autumn 2012. Because I do not have enough information, I am asking you what are my law obligations for that action? Also, I've noticed that dogs are really appreciated here, and that you can go to a bar or shopping mole with them. Does this mean that I could bring my dog with me to my job (of course, I am not asking for every single job, just generally speaking).

Thanks in advance.

Cheers from Zurich

Hello,

I have one question and I would be really happy is someone could give me an answer for it. Is it truth that in Zurich all dogs need to be sterilized, and only kennel dogs can be regular dogs?

Thanks!

Oh, that is nice to hear ;)

Could you please write me here, or give me a link with instructions what are my obligations when buying a dog. I've understood you have some rules here, and I would love to respect them. Breed is German Shepherd.

Also, one more thing. When I am done with my Master studies, I'll return to my country. Because of that, I would love to buy the dog in Serbia (my country), so he can have Serbian passport, but he will need to live in Switzerland for the first year. Is there some kind of permit for foreign dogs or what?

Thanks ;)
